Children’s Fairyland warmly welcomes guests with learning differences, sensory sensitivities, and disabilities of any kind.
We offer a safe, familiar environment with engaging storybook sets surrounded by gardens. We are dedicated to making Fairyland a community in which all children can feel comfortable exploring, be celebrated for who they are, and have agency in their play and learning. We are also invested in being responsive to caregivers’ and teachers’ individual needs. Please email or call 510-452-2259, if you have any questions regarding park accessibility.
Plan Your Visit
As you pull onto Bellevue Ave., there is a drop-off zone on the right-hand side past the parking kiosk. Guests may be dropped off at the white curb and follow the paved path up toward the main entrance. There are several parking spaces available for guests with accessibility placards. For parking, the City of Oakland charges $2 for two hours on weekdays and $10 for a full weekday. Weekend and holiday parking is $5.
Days with Fewer Guests
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays often have lower attendance and noise levels. Please note, however, that Monday holidays such as Presidents’ Day and Labor Day may be busy. See Park Hours for our seasonal schedule.
A downloadable PDF story with pictures is available here to help you and your children get a sense of what to expect during your visit.

After Your Visit
Accessibility Feedback Form
We would love to hear how your visit to Children’s Fairyland went and how we may better meet your needs. You can find our individual Accessibility Feedback Form here and our Field Trips Feedback Form here.
Field trips for Special Education classes may use the drop-off zone on Bellevue Avenue. A Fairyland staff member will meet you outside the gate and go over our safety protocols.
We offer a free Horticulture Therapy program to field trip classes with special needs. We engage children with plants using all different modalities, including the five senses, pictures, spoken words, and written words. Please indicate your interest in the program on the field trip registration form. You’ll find a Social Story field trip addendum here.
Noise-Reducing Headphones and Tactile Tote
The front desk has two pairs of child-friendly noise-reducing headphones that may be signed out and then returned when you leave the park. If anyone in your party is feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated, they may also borrow our Tactile Tote, which contains several sensory toys.
