Students Unlock the Power of Storytelling and Get Published!
The Youth Writer’s Workshop is a free program offering four(4) in-person workshops at Children’s Fairyland, with the option to attend additional independent mentoring sessions. The program is led by a published author alongside Fairyland’s education staff. Registration for the 2026 Youth Writers Workshop Cohort opens January 14, 2026.

Meet the Guest Author: Natasha Tripplett
Award-winning author, Natasha Tripplett, lives in Northern California where she writes from a treehouse perched in a sycamore tree. Natasha is a Jamaican Jewish American author who is passionate about cultural representation in children’s literature. She is the author of The Blue Pickup, Award-winning Juneteenth Is, Planted with Love, and Downtown Doors. Natasha bubbles with excitement over antiques, chocolate, coffee on the front porch, and cozy movie nights in front of the fireplace with her husband and four children.
Highlights of the Youth Writers Workshop
The Youth Writers Workshop:
- Puts youth in the author’s chair
- Gives them identity-building experiences working with professional authors
- Takes them through the process of writing, from idea to publishing
- Provides four in-person workshops at Children’s Fairyland
- Teaches students narrative-building skills and connects participants with their own inner storyteller
- Culminates with our youth authors creating an original narrative and illustration to be published in our Youth Anthology
- Showcases students’ work at our Book Festival in 2026, where young authors can present alongside distinguished authors, illustrators, and creators in the industry of children’s literature.
WORKSHOPS:
Saturdays, March 14th, 28th, April 4th, and April 18th
9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
OFFICE HOURS:
Saturdays, March 21st, April 11th, 25th, and May 2nd
Students must be 8 to 14 years old and be available to attend all workshops.
