Children’s Fairyland is a whimsical 10-acre storybook park on the shores of Oakland’s Lake Merritt, designed for families with little ones (ages 0-8). Explore magical playsets, meet friendly animals, watch puppet shows, and enjoy rides, live performances and hands-on fun in a safe, outdoor wonderland. Sparking imagination and joy since 1950!

Puppet Fair

August 29 & 30 | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Celebrating 70 years of puppet shows! Puppet Fair is two full days of spectacular productions and puppetry magic. Take a backstage tour of the Storybook Puppet Theater. Explore with Puppet Playdates. Enjoy several shows by premier puppet companies and be immersed in the magic of this rare and beautiful artform.

Fairyland’s artsiest party returns! Watch in awe as 50+ local artists create Fairyland-inspired artwork live in real time. Meet & greet, imbibe with cocktails, see a puppet show, enjoy a live band, and possibly take home a piece of the evening’s magic at the end of the night’s spirited art sale!

Oakland's Magic Kitchen

Oct. 3 | 11:30 a.m.  | Aesop’s Playhouse
Oakland’s most magical cooking show is heating up again! Fairyland teams up with Chef Nelson of alaMar Dominican Kitchen to get your little ones excited about ingredients, recipes, making meals, and participating in the kitchen. It’s a kid-friendly culinary adventure! Come get a sneak peek behind the scenes of one of The Town’s most flavorful finds.
