The Youth Writers Workshop
The Youth Writer’s Workshop is a free program that offers 4 in-person workshops at Children’s Fairyland with additional independent mentoring sessions. The program is led by a local teaching author alongside Fairyland’s education staff. The 2025 program will resume soon!

Highlights of the Youth Writers Workshop
Applications for the 2025 Youth Writers Workshop are now closed. Registration for the 2026 program will open in January 2026—stay tuned!
In the meantime, celebrate the creativity of this year’s cohort at our Children’s Book Festival on September 21, 2025, as they present their published stories from the 2025 Youth Writers Workshop Anthology.
- Puts youth in the author’s chair
- Gives them identity-building experiences working with professional authors
- Takes them through the process of writing, from idea to publishing
- Is comprised of four in-person sessions at Children’s Fairyland
- Teaches students narrative-building skills and connects participants with their own inner storyteller
- Culminates with our youth authors creating an original narrative and illustration to be published in our Youth Anthology
- Showcases students’ work at our Book Festival in 2025, where young authors can present alongside distinguished authors, illustrators, and creators in the industry of children’s literature.
