Juneteenth Celebration

Celebrate Juneteenth at Fairyland!

Enjoy themed arts & crafts, block printing, Daisy the Clown performances, and a special appearance by Jump Squad 510 teaching the basics of how to jump rope, Double Dutch style. Join us for a day filled with cultural activities designed to inspire creativity, community, and reflection.

Juneteenth Schedule:
10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Block Tee printing: bring a light color t-shirt & get creative

11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Arts & Crafts: make your own Juneteenth Flag, make a Sun catcher

11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Double Dutch Date with Jump Squad 510: come watch and learn

1:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
Daisy the Clown’s amazing clown show at Emerald City Stage

2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
“Freedom Fizz”: try the bubbly holiday beverage at your leisure

Pack up a picnic, spread out, get cozy, and spend the day celebrating freedom, resilience, and joy!

What is Juneteenth? Juneteenth commemorates the day when 250,000 enslaved people in the state of Texas, the last Confederate state to hold onto slavery as the Civil War ended, were declared free by the U.S. Army. While the 13th Amendment formally abolished slavery nationwide, Juneteenth marks a significant step in the process of emancipation of Black people in this country.

PLEASE NOTE there will be ROAD CLOSURES:

Getting to Fairyland on Juneteenth
Grand Ave will be closed between MacArthur Ave and Euclid Ave.
Lakeshore Ave and Grand Ave will both be blocked off for nearby Juneteenth gatherings.
We recommend against taking either exit from the I-580.
Instead, we advise:

-Alternate Freeway Exit:
If you’re traveling on I-580, please use Exit 21A: Harrison Street

-Directions from I-580 (Harrison Street Exit – 21A):
Take Exit 21A (Harrison Street)
Turn left onto Harrison Street (if coming from I-580 East)
Turn left onto Bay Place
Turn left onto Grand Avenue
Turn right onto Bellevue Avenue
Continue into Lakeside Park to reach Children’s Fairyland
