A Series of Family-Friendly Cooking Shows Back for its third season, Oakland’s Magic Kitchen brings the heart of Oakland’s food scene to Aesop’s Playhouse—live, family-friendly, and full of flavor. And this year's lineup? It's bringing the heat!  Created especially for kids and their grownups, this playful cooking show invites top local chefs to prepare delicious, easy-to-make dishes on stage with some help from everyone’s favorite furry friend, Quercus. Throughout each show, chefs guide the audience through a step-by-step recipe while Quercus keeps the littlest foodies engaged with fun questions, an ingredient-spotting activity, and plenty of  silly antics. Expect laughter, learning, and lots of creative, delicious, nutritious fare.  Stirring up fun! Indigenous Peoplesʼ Day

Spend your holiday at Fairyland uplifting the voices of Indigenous Peoples. Join us for Native American storytime at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. and special performances by live storyteller Alicia Retes at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Take a walk over to the Ohloneland sign on Fairy Hill and take a minute to reflect upon the origins of this land and the people at the core of its origin story. Fairyland Land Acknowledgement: The magical storytelling of Fairyland takes place in the ancestral land of the Lisjian (Ohlone) people. We recognize the joy and laughter created here grows on stolen land and exists alongside the historical and ongoing colonization of Indigenous People. It is our honor to be in shared community with the original stewards of this land and we understand it is our responsibility to keep their stories alive, uplift their voices, and prioritize their presence on our platforms and in the park. Halloween Jam: Mad Magic October 24-26 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Included with general admission | Free for Fairyland Members This year, Fairyland does Halloween with a Mad Magic twist! Celebrate Halloween early with three days of festive play. Enjoy themed crafts, activity stations, performances, costumes, STEM activities, and Mad Magic fun!  Halloween Jam: Mad Magic! Friday, October 31 (Halloween) 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Special Event Pricing: $25 per person | $20 per member On Halloween day, the park becomes Quercus’ mad science laboratory full of glowing goo, bubbling brews, frightful formulas, and eek-citing experiments! With extended hours, you get to spend Halloween trick-or-treating at Fairyland surrounded by curious contraptions, colorful creations, and hands-on Halloween fun. Inside the Lab: Trick-or-treat stations throughout the park Hands-on mad science-themed STEM activities The Mad Science Fairy Fun House Sensory play zones with interactive games Live performances and special guests Themed arts and crafts DJs spinning family-friendly tunes Delicious bites from local food trucks Costumes encouraged, not required! Día de los Muertos: Chapel Exhibit & Performances

Días de los Muertos: Arte y Música  Nov. 1,2 and 9,10 El Arte Fairyland proudly hosts our Día de los Muertos art exhibit featuring the work of 450 TK to 5th grade students from Escuela de la Familia Global in Oakland. Within the walls of our gorgeous chapel, you’ll find curated original artwork and objects of beauty whose vibrant, bold, and festive forms come together as a joyous way of remembering the dearly departed. The art, decorations, ofrendas, statues, flowers, calaveras, paper mache, papel picado, and other stunning embellishments associated with Día de los Muertos are absolutely iconic and explosively colorful. Come into the chapel during your visit and be brought into an installation that is as celebratory as it is sacred, while supporting the work of a new generation. La Musica Nov. 1 Audiences of every age will delight in the bright and powerful energy of live Mariachi music performed by the uber-talented and well polished youth band, Mariachi Corazón Jovial, reigning from Castro Valley and taking over at Aesop’s Playhouse for ONE DAY ONLY at Fairyland.
