Family Memberships

As a member, you’ll be joining a community of over 4,500 current member families and generations of member families that have found joy, cultivated creativity, and nurtured confidence at Fairyland over the past 71+ years. In addition, there are a lot of great things about being a member!

How do I become a member?

You can enroll online, over the phone at 510-452-2259 (Weds. through Sun. only), or in person at the Membership Services building (check the park's map for location).

Can I apply what I paid in general admission tickets towards a membership?

Yes! If you purchased your tickets online, you can make an upgrade on the same day as your visit. If you purchased your tickets at the Box Office, you can make the upgrade on the same day as the purchase date of the tickets. Your receipt is required for all admission-to-membership upgrades. To make this upgrade, please head to the Membership Services building (check the park's map for exact location).

Do I have to have a Fairyland for All rewards card to become a member?

No, you can purchase a Fairy Gates membership at any time. Present an EBT, SNAP/CalFresh, BIC or WIC card and personal identification at the membership services desk. Additional family members may be added for $10 per person annually.

Where do I pick up the special edition Fairyland Magic Keys that come with my membership? 

Your special edition Magic Keys can picked up at the Membership Services building. Membership Magic Keys are only given out with a new membership or at renewal. Replacement or additional Membership Magic Keys are available for purchase in our in-park Gift Shop for $4 each.

Is my membership transferable to guests?

Sorry, no. Your membership is non-transferable and each adult on it must be specifically named. We verify this, as you enter the park, by matching your photo ID with the name on your membership card. 

What happens if I forget to bring my photo ID and/or my membership card?

All named adult members must provide a photo ID to enter the park. You will be charged the current general admission price of $17 per child (ages 1-17) and $19 per adult (ages 18+) if you do not show your photo ID.

Do ALL adults in my group need a photo ID? Can't my spouse/partner/friend just vouch for me?

All named adult members entering the park need their photo ID to match their membership record. Non-members will need to pay the current general admission price of $17 per child (ages 1-17) and $19 per adult (ages 18+) to visit Children’s Fairyland.

Why do I have to bring a child to visit the park?

It has always been Fairyland’s policy that adults are only admitted with children and vice versa. The park is intended for families and friends with children.

What if I arrive separately from my group?

If the rest of your party is inside, someone must meet you at the ticket gate WITH a child. Adults are only admitted WITH a child, and children are only admitted WITH an adult. Most people meet outside the park's entrance until everyone in the group has arrived. 

Is my membership refundable?

No, we are not able to refund your membership for any reason.

Do I have to get back in line if I leave the park?

If you need to leave Children's Fairyland for any reason, please get your hand stamped at the box office for in/out privileges.

Do I get a discount for special events like Halloween Jam and Fairy Winterland?

Yes! Members get a significant discount on admission to these special events. These specially-themed events feature giveaways, extra activities and special performances! Use your membership code when you reserve tickets online to get your discount. 

Is parking included in membership?

Membership does NOT include parking. The City of Oakland manages and monitors the parking lot. Neighborhood parking and metered parking is available around the park on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to take any valuables with you. Vehicle break-ins are an unfortunate reality around Lake Merritt.

What if I lose my Magic Key or my membership cards?

Oops! First check with "Lost and Found" in our Gift Shop. Of course, we cannot guarantee that what you lost will be there. We do have replacement membership cards available for $5 each. Also, we offer replacement Membership Magic Keys for $4 each. Just show your membership card to buy them. (No proof of membership is required to purchase general Fairyland Magic Keys for $3 apiece.)

What is the maximum number of people on a membership?

Seven people is maximum number per membership. Additions are determined on a case-by-case basis and up to the discretion of Membership Services.

Can I modify who is on my membership before it expires?

Changes can be made for an additional fee during the course of your membership. Requests can be submitted via email, phone, or in person at the Gift Shop.

What is the code to reserve member tickets online?
